IJsfabriek Strombeek

In close collaboration with the IT department of IJsfabriek Strombeek, PeopleWare executed a turn-key project, including hardware and two custom tailored mobile applications.

IJsfabriekIJsfabriek Strombeek began its activities in 1904 with the production of blocks of ice.
In 1952 the company started the production of industrial gases such as oxygen and acetylene.  Nowadays, it is the only firm in Belgium producing nitrous oxide and one of the largest and most modern in Europe.

PidionMobile Delivery

For IJsfabriek we've developed a mobile delivery application which interfaces with a proprietary  IBM iSeries back-end system.

  • Barcode scanning of bottles or packages
  • Take picture in case of damage
  • Significantly decrease errors when delivering goods or picking up empties

ForkPicking

The picking process was also automated.

  • A rugged terminal was built into the forklift
  • Products are scanned by the field operator by means of an IP65 bluetooth barcode scanner
  • The mobile application running on the rugged terminal interfaces with the iSeries by means of Web Services
